Hi,
The Bowes Museum contains only a modest display of silver, but the prize in this collection is the famous 'Silver Swan'
The Silver Swan dates from 1773 and was first recorded in 1774 as a crowd puller in the Mechanical Museum of James Cox, a London showman and dealer.
The swan was shown at the 1867 Paris International Exhibition where jeweller Harry Emanuel exhibited it.
The Museum is in the picturesque market town of Barnard Castle, County Durham situated in the heart of the Pennines in North East England.
The Bowes Museum is open daily. Closed only 25 & 26 December & 1 January.
