Help with hallmark on Footed serving tray

Post by MBASE213 »

Hi all,

I've gone nuts looking through Wyler, Wardle,Banister, & Rainwater Reference books to find these hallmarks. I got the best shot I could, they seem to fade out on one end. Special note these hallmarks are stamped on the front side of the tray. Any help I can get will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your help

Hi,

I don't remember seeing that mark before. I read it as Roberts & Slater.

Samuel Roberts and Joseph Slater were in partnership as silverplaters in Sheffield in the mid nineteenth century.
So I guess it must be them.

It would be incorrect to describe them as hallmarks, just maker's marks.
