The beauty of antique silver

Post by Hose_dk »

I have promised one of our "new-commer" to show the difference between antique hand made silver and mashine made silver around 1900. But it is difficult on a picture - to see the difference.
This laddle is 37 cm - it is made by Carl M Cohr in 11 lødigt silver around 1900.

it completely lacks the beauty of old hamd made silver. And I have regretted my buy which took place in january 2009

and I am not able to take pictures that show the difference here is one 1920 one approx 1910 and two 1806. But I dont think that my point can be seen :( the engraving 1912 is on a 1806 spoon.

Hi hose_dk. Thanks for sharing the second set of pictures. The difference is clear. But most of all I am sure they feel completely different, which is why I bought the set you helped me identify. They just felt fabulous. I'm only sorry I thought they were Scottish. But thanks for putting me right. - regards Frank
