Permanent Museum Collections

Post by admin »

There are thousands of large and small museums, worldwide, that exhibit collections of antique and modern silver and we'd like to list as many as possible.

If you know of a museum silver collection that would interest our users, please post the information in this category.

If you've viewed a collection already listed, please post a followup message and share your experience of it with us.

I would recommend the Gulbenkian museum in Lisbon. It has some astonishing artwork and of course the best collection of Lalique jewellery in the world. But it has some breathtaking pieces of antique silverware too, true museum pieces that just never come up for sale any more. The collectors 150 years were very spoiled as to what they could buy, and I guess, in 150 years, they will say the same about us today.
Check out these. Enjoy !

And of course the Louvre has some great silverware, including Roman silverware from the Boscoreale treasure.

Well worth a visit.
