Old Dutch Cutlery from Grandmother

Post by silverfan »

Image

Please give information about origin, maker, year, town and if possible some historical details. Perhaps so we can clear some questions in family history.
Many thanks in advance

Town: The Hague (also 's-Gravenhage or Den Haag)
Date: 1781 (date letter "K")
Maker: Martinus van Stapele (working 1757-1803)

This traditional threaded pattern I gather is called "hartefilet" in Dutch.

Hope this helps!

Hi blakstone,
thank you very much for your quick answer. Just to improve my knowledge I would like to know the meaning of the punches from left to right and the source where I can find the old punches before 1814 in the internet.
