Unknown Eagle Mark on a Swiss Spoon

Post by Joerg »

Dear Forum Members

Can you help my identify the eagle mark on this spoon?

The spoon is Swiss origin, the retailer is Arnold Tschudi (1870-1953) from Bischofszell.
According to the reference "Weltliches Silber 2", (the catalog from the Swiss National Museum), the eagle mark represents "Kallmeyer & Harjes, Metallwarenfabrik" in Gotha, aprox. 1905.

The eagle can be found quite often on Swiss spoons from about 1880 to 1910. I think it must be a Swiss manufacturer. Any ideas?

Thank you

Jörg

Unknown Eagle Mark on a Swiss Spoon

Hello

For sure shown mark isn't Kallmeyer & Harjes, founded 1887 for hollowware in alpacca, brass, cooper, nickel and in plated.

I never saw their mark on one of their products in a frame. Also never on flatware; because that wasn't their product range.

Eagle mark's be thousand.

Kind regards silverport

Hello, Kallmeyer and Harjes aquired the cutlery production of Hermann Zielke of Berlin (formerly: Henniger and Co.) sometime after 1914. But as Silverport stated, their eagle mark looked quite different plus they never made any silver cutlery. So they are definitely NOT the maker here. I have seen this eagle mark on German and Swiss pieces, but I am not able to identify it any further . Best wishes, Bahner
