These are the only marks on these forks. Can anyone help me to identify?

French Oyster Forks - Plated on MB = Metall Blanc

Hello

Your forks are »Oyster Forks« - they are plated, on Nickel Silver; called in France: »Metall Blanc«, hence the rhombic sign with MB.

Maker is actually unknown to me.

Kind regards silverport

Thank you kindly. Of course I should have realized. Would you have any idea as to a possible date?

French oyster forks in Metall Blanc

Hello again

Without knowledge of maker’s history it’s difficult to make an estimation of this items age. This kind of haft style is an old one, risen from pistol style haft. Hence they are ergonomic and “clean” on their surface. Especially very popular — for reason of hygienic — in hotels, restaurants … And they were cheap — so it could also be buying a not so wealthy population.

Here shown monogram style of engraved letters lets me guess, to be from around 1900.

Kind regards silverport
