Hi,

Welcome to the Forum.

No, not Russian silver, but French silverplate.

Reading this article will explain all: http://www.925-1000.com/a_platenumbers.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It seems to be that yours forks were part of so called »Hotel Silver«.

Hello »touqeer«

The maker’s mark missing forks seems to be, have to been part of so called »Hotel Silver« - that are flatware’s and hollowware’s for use in public institutions, e.g. Hotels, Restaurants, Cruise ships, Military, Hospitals …

These mass products, made from Copper-Zinc-Nickel alloy of several compositions where, basically prepared, also delivered to Galvanizers; which made the Electro Plating.

Please reread the whole: http://www.925-1000.com/a_platenumbers.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

There is explained that in Germany the basic measure for cutlery was 12 table forks and 12 table spoons. Other countries in Continental Europe took over this systematic.

If yours forks are table forks, and the producer has struck »84« on them, then there was a warranty for 42 gram Silver being used in their electro galvanic production process. But the shown images of the forks let “seesigns of wear and tear; so there are actually less or much less as 42 gram silver.

I hope that the »plate numbers« and my explanations would help you.

Kind regards silverport
