Hello!
I recently got this fine Austrian Snuff Box and would like to know the maker of it.
The hallmarks in both halfs of the box are identical and as follows:
'FN' in a triangle (*), 935 (silver fineness), bird head with '1' and 'W' (935 silver, Vienna) and 'STERLING'.
(*) at the bottom of the triangle there is a dot with an arc above it)
Can anybody give me a hint about the maker with the initials 'FN' ?
I would like also to know if someone of you has seen any item of a similar design.
I admit that I see some influence from the Wiener Werkstätte and/or Josef Hoffmann or the Vienna Secession ;-)
Here are some photos of the item itself and the hallmarks (sorry, not too clear - I know).
Best regards
Rainer

FN&Co = Frank Nikoladoni & Comp., Vienna, Austria.
Hello Rainer
The »FN&Co« maker’s mark is the maker’s mark of Frank Nikoladoni & Comp., Vienna, Austria.
Please accept that I and maybe others as well are very unhappy to get shown 5 times a maker’s mark image, but not the Assay mark.
I request you very kindly, to add clear images of the whole markings and the Assay mark as well.
Kind regards silverport

Dear Silverport,
thank you very much for your posting with the name of the maker of the box.
Since I can not edit my posting itself, I changed the size of the first image so it now shows all markings on the box.
Thanks a lot again!
Best regards
Rainer
