I was inspired by an answer I had in the british section.
I have 6 baroq spoons - i.e. i have 4+2 spoons.
The story is - I found these in a basket containing silver plate. Much to my surprice - pleasent surprise.
The spoons are wedding spoons on back they have initials+year 1781 - same initials same year on all. In 1824 the spoons was given at another wedding and had new initials and year. All 6 have the exact same look - pattern+rat tail engraving rococo style rat tail - baroq pattern spoons dog-nose.
Great surprice spoons 1781 - but they had 2 different makers. How come?
The 6 spoons are completely alike same shape and engraving. But 2 different makers. Four is marked CH 2 marked PB
PB is from the danish city of Randers - he is Peter Brock Brockmand born in the city of Mariager citienship 16th December 1739 dead 1766. So we know that 2 of the spoons are before 1766.
CH is also from Randers he is Christian Pedersen Høvring born approx 1728 goldsmith in city of Hobro 1754-67 citienship Randers on 9th September 1767 dead 1782 vidow continues business and is mentioned 1794.
The 6 spones all have same prik emgravement. R.B.H over MGDM over 1781 over HSDH and at the front RRSB over HND over Halling over 1824.
I have come to the conclusion that some people had 2 spoons. They used the spoons, but in 1781 they decided to give the 2 spoons for a wedding, and therefore they had made 4 more. The gifth should be larger.
The 2 old spoons (from before 1766) are used more than the 4. They have a slightly more used look. So they are older and used more, but the solution could be, the solution I was presented here http://www.925-1000.com/forum/viewtopic ... 55&t=22840" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
They kept on using the 2 old in order to save the 4 new for a special occations - and thereby they continued to put use on only 2 spoons.
Dont know if right, but it is a logical solution I have not heard before.
