Many question about an article from Sweden

Post by Elena Russ »

Hello, dear Sirs.

I have one wonderful article from Sweden. Could you please tell me, how it is named right and what it is intended for. Is this an exclusively souvenir or does this spoon have the special functions? Its size: length — 13sm, width of handle - 3,4sm, width of scoop - 6,2sm.

Help me please to identify it silversmith too. May be somebody can recommend for me the special books. Unfortunately, often enough I cannot found necessary information about manufacturer on previously recommended site http://stamps.swedac.se/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.
By the way, I have the teaspoon of same design. What is the connection between the two articles besides the design? Thank you!

The spoon is a Lapp wedding spoon , originally they were betrothal gifts, but now sold as a popular souvenir of Lapland.

The maker is Åhlins Silversmide i Luleå i.e. Åhlin's Silver workshop in Luleå in Sweden. The spoon is made in 1959 (I9).

The SWEDAC site is not always working properly unless you "Clear Page" before you enter any information- Also click with the cursor on "Search", enter is not enough. Make a new try and you will see the same as I told you above.
