I'm a avid metal detectorist. Last Sunday I was detecting a park which used to be a Methodist Church Camp. The camp was founded in 1910 in the lower mainland of British Columbia. It has been in use ever since, first by the Methodists, then the United Church, the Boy Scouts and now is a City Park.
My find was this very lovely pendant. The pendant was clearly designed to be worn as a pin or necklace. The pin is unfortunately broken, which is probably how it got lost in the first place. I have no idea how long it has lain in the ground, but other than the broken pin it cleaned up really good. It was buried 8" deep in the rocky soil and I am proud to have brought it back into the light. Now I just have to track down WHEN and WHERE it was manufactured.
The pendant has a history. It carries the letters W.C.T.U.; which is The Women's Christian Temperance Union. If you know about the alcohol prohibition in the 1920's and 1930's, then you will understand that the W.C.T.U. was behind that and was in on other historical events as well; all over the world. Many of the women in the W.C.T.U. were Methodist, Baptist or Free Methodists. So where I found it makes since.
It also has the maple leaf, which means it was Canadian. It has the world globe which means it was probably a pendant used for a international convention. It also has the white ribbon tied around the maple leaf stem. The white ribbon bow was selected to symbolize purity. Click here for more information on the organization. http://www.wctu.org
On the back it is marked STERLING, a oval with what looks like a D or P inside it and the makers initials F.W.W.
Here are the the 5meg pictures I took. My camera does not have automatic macro. Hopefully it is enough detail.

Any help is appreciated greatly, I believe this pendant needs it's story told.

Re: Need info on maker of this pendant and maybe what year?
I'm still looking for info on the maker of this pendant. I heard back from the official W.C.T.U. archives and this pin was Canadian and probably for a world conference; due to the globes on it. It being silver might suggest it was made for a higher up official. As most W.C.T.U. pins were made of bronze or tin. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
