Need to ID Town and Maker GFH or CFH on Swedish Beaker 1826

Post by gemspring »

What a great forum! Thanks in advance for your collective expertise.

I have a sterling beaker, hand-chased. Marked with the triple crown, date code U3 (1826) and two other marks.... Town mark is some kind of winged bird or creature. Maker initials are C.F.H. or G.F.H.

Thank you so much!
Ginger

Yes it is a Swedish beaker. The maker is Carl Fredrik Hedin (C:F:H:) 1811-1836 (1845) in Örebro (The winged bird) . Originally his name was C. F. Elmgren but he adopted his stepfather's family name Hedin. He was born 1782 in Jönköping and married Catharina Elisabeth Alsterberg. Hedin was married a second time with Lovisa Seren. When Hedin died in 1836 his widow continued to 1845.
