Help with hallmark ID Fleur De Lis in a shield

Post by Sterlingfiend »

Hello, just recently purchased a flatware set... very simple design with a beaded edge. Marked Sterling with a hallmark of a fleur de lis in a shield. I can't find the mark anywhere, any help would be great!
Here is a pic of the mark.

I believe your mark is that of Davis & Galt of Philadelphia. They were in business from approx. 1893 - 1922. I got this information from page 41 of Rainwater's Encyclopedia of American Silver Manufacturers. I do not know the pattern name.

Thanks very much... doing a search on eBay turned up a few examples and the hallmarks match my set! Thanks again!
