can anyone help with the maker and date

Post by blonde_minx »

Hi, I have this lovely French Silver & Cloisonné Enamel Box, i can see the marks for the crab , 3 of these marks ,which would date it after 1838, i have found the maker mark but cant find who this is or what date, hope someone can help, i may be wrong but it looks like a letter C then a duck or bird and then i cant see the other letter, any advice would be of great help, it took ages trying to take a pic of the mark as it is so small, thanks

Maybe it's Calmar&Minat mark? See here:

Hi Mandy and Alex,

Mandy, can you show us some images of all of the marks? As for the maker's mark, it appears to be contained within a hexagonal punch rather than a lozenge, more suggestive, to me, of Spanish origin, rather than French.

Hi,
The duck of Calmar & Minat's punch is facing left. In this case the punch shows a bird facing right !
This means that the mark can't be attributed to Calmar & Minat.
