First question as I need a bit of help

Post by monte100 »

Hi,

I have a triple hors d'eouvres dish that I am pretty sure is French but I am stumped on the marks. There is an O or D with F next to it and next to that is an underlined E. They are above the head of a cockerel and in a separate square is 10g. The reason I am describing it is because I am very new to this and I have no idea how to upload an image, perhaps someone could help with that too.

Hi Monte,

I hope I don't disappoint you too much, but your dish is silver plated. The maker is Deschamps Freres, 46 Rue du Rocher, Paris. They were in business as from 1923.

To understand the number mark, see: http://www.925-1000.com/a_platenumbers.html

Hi Dognose,

What a star you are! Thank you so much. No disappointment, I did not think it was solid silver, I just wanted to know who made it.

Brilliant
