I have found on various sites false information about Richard Philip Groves 1821- 1911
Following the dissolution of the Groves & Barker partnership in 1865, Richard did not die but went on to live to a grand old age of 90! I have been researching his life as he was my Gt Gt Grandfather, & I have documentation to show he was still listed as a Surveying instrument maker as late as 1902. Does anyone know of any instruments found to be made by Richard Philip Groves- I have found application references for compasses & aneroid barometers but I am not sure if any of these were signed items? I would be grateful of any information out there to help with my further research.

A couple of snippets of information:
PURSUANT to an Order of the High Court of Chancery, made in the matter of the estate of William Henry Jones, late of No. 4. Rupert-street, Haymarket, in the county of Middlesex, Optician, deceased, and in a cause of Richard Philip Groves and Francis Barker against Catherine Jones, Widow, the administratrix of the said William Henry Jones, deceased, the creditors of the said William Henry Jones, deceased, who died in or about the month of October, 1859, are, by their Solicitors, on or before the 4th day of February, 1860, to come in and prove their debts at the chambers, of. the Vice-Chancellor Sir John Stuart, at No. 12, Old-square, Lincoln's-inn, Middlesex, or in default thereof they will be peremptorily excluded from the benefit of the said Order. Saturday, the 11th day of February, 1860, at one o'clock in the afternoon, at the said chambers, is appointed for hearing and adjudicating upon the claims.–Dated this 14th day of January, 1860.

NOTICE is hereby given, that the Partnership heretofore subsisting between the undersigned, Richard Philip Groves and Francis Barker, carrying on business as Compass and Sun Dial Makers, at No. 16, Market-street, Clerkenwell, in the county of Middlesex, under the style or firm of Groves and Barker, has this day been dissolved by mutual consent; and that all debts owing to or by us in respect of the said business, will be received and paid by Messrs. Hart, Brothers, and Company. Accountants, of No. 57, Moorgate-street, London.–As witness our hands this 3rd day of August, 1865.
