Miniature silver cups, possibly Asian.

Post by niceguy1 »

HI ALL GOOD PEOPLE

I have a set of 10 of these miniature silver cups.

They would appear to be of Asian origin, but there are no markings at all.

Are they shot cups? where & when would they of been made? they measure 1 3/4 inches tall.

THANKS IN ADVANCE.

I believe the cups are for drinking heated rice wine.

They could be Chinese, Japanese, or Korean, but without any marks at all, it is nearly impossible to say without finding a marked matching piece. The cups were probably part of a set with a pair of matching ewers or pourers that were marked.

Although they look like silver, I would not assume so without testing them. Liquor sets like this in pewter far outnumber those in silver.
