Venetian Spoon, 18th Century

Post by Granmaa »

I believe this spoon to be Venetian, early 18th century, with the angel mark. Does anyone recognise the makers' marks. The marks on the bowl seem to different to the one on the handle.

Marks are badly struck and are only partially visible, so it is difficult to give an answer. The " angel " could be the S.Marco's lion in Majesty, or, as they say, in moleca.
The mark ending by C COULD be the mark of the assayer Anzolo Castelli.
The other marks those of the maker, that I do not know.

Thank you for that.
Do you know the working dates for Anzolo Castelli?

The book reads "end '600, starting '700"
