J G crown in shield mark ID help

Post by ryanfern »

I have been all over the web trying to identify these marks on this spoon I have. I have come up with nothing. I have no idea on country of origin, year or maker. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi welcome to the forum,

Silver-plate; a non precious base metal with a coating or plating of silver.

British silver-plate trademarks of: Joseph Gilbert, Birmingham, England, from 1894. Around 1897 the use of a crown in a cartouche on British silver-plate was banned.
