Help on maker - GUSTAVE SANDOZ ?

Post by thomk »

Hi,

I picked up recently beautiful French silver with a nice sign of Minerva and trademark of the manufacturer, but I can not find any information about the manufacturer GUSTAVE SANDOZ, any ideas? Is this SANDOZ "from watches"?

Many thanks

Tom

Hi Tom,

Welcome to the Forum.

Gustave Sandoz was a manufacturer, he registered a seven-pointed star mark from the address of 20 Rue de Valois, Paris in 1877, and a five pointed star mark from the address of 147-148 Galerie Vallois, Paris in 1890.

Hopefully someone can tell us some more about this maker, but I suppose there is the possibility that the difference in the mark may indicate a father and son, or some other change in circumstance.
