Help with Cardeilhac Knife
Re: Help with Cardeilhac Knife
This is a fish serving knife. They usually came in a set with a matching fish serving fork.
The Minerva head mark in an octagonal reserve shows that the blade is made of 950 standard silver, slightly better than sterling standard. The maker’s mark in a lozenge is that used by Armand-Édouard Cardeilhac from 1851-1904. The company was founded in 1817 by Armand-Édouard’s father, Vital-Antoine Cardeilhac, and continued by various family members until 1951 when Christofle bought them out. The Carheilhac firm made high-quality, well-designed cutlery and silver that won numerous prizes at international exhibits over the years. Hope this helps.
