Chinese Export Silver mark - HUANG JIU JI
Does anyone know where city where the workshop Huang Jiu Ji operated?
Likely contenders based on style and quality point to either Tientsin or Hong Kong. But no documentary evidence uncovered.
Would be extremely glad to solve this mystery
Huang Jiu Ji is well-known for his enamel work on silver and is considered by Chinese collectors to be highly desirable. Interestingly, no Chinese collector has come forward with the place of manufacture!
Huang Jiu Ji appears to have worked in the period circa 1880-1920

Re: CHINESE EXPORT SILVER MARK OF HUANG JIU JI
Hi Adrien,
I'm drawing a complete blank on this one. Are there any known alternative spellings of his name?

Re: CHINESE EXPORT SILVER MARK OF HUANG JIU JI
This is the correct transliteration from Cantonese
Apparently he is a sought after maker by Chinese collectors but no collector seems to know his origin

Re: CHINESE EXPORT SILVER MARK OF HUANG JIU JI
It is difficult to offer any help without knowing how Huang Jiu Ji marked his work---in roman alphabet, in Chinese characters, so-called pseudo-marks, or . . . ?
If you have an image of the mark, or know the Chinese characters transliterated as "Huang Jiu Ji", could you please share with the Forum?
Many thanks,
DR
