Hi There,
I have been searching tirelessly for a painting Arthur Grimwade did of four members of staff in the coffee room of The Garrick Club between 20-30 years ago. I can't find even so much as a reference to the fact Mr Grimwade liked to paint!
I know for a fact he did this painting because one of the members of staff was my Great Grandmother. The painting was made into a Christmas Card. She was allowed to have one, which she used at the time to send to a friend living away. She now regrets it dearly and i am trying to find a copy to give to her.
Can any of you kind people please point me in ANY sort of direction as to where i can start looking as i have exhausted search engines.
My sincerest thanks.
Arthur Grimwade Paintings?
Re: Arthur Grimwade Paintings?
Hi MrsP,
Welcome to the Forum.
Only a shot in the dark, but it may be worthwhile contacting Christies. Arthur Grimwade worked there from the 1930's to the 1960's at least. It's possible that someone there may know what happened to his artwork.
Here's a link that shows Arthur working at Christes: http://www.925-1000.com/forum/viewtopic ... 072#p39072
