Gustave Keller Records

Post by FSP »

Hi -
I have two questions I hope someone might be able to answer about the image I have included. I have an old pigskin gentleman's travel valise made by Gustave Keller with the owner's initials and family emblem on each piece. Could someone tell me the meaning of the emblem? I know it is an arm in armor, but I'm not sure what he is gripping -- perhaps arrows? I would also like to know if there is any chance of figuring out who the set was made for. I believe I read somewhere that Keller's business records had been archived but I don't know if that is true. If that is the case, does anyone know what information they contain and how to go about accessing the information? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

A close-up would help. From here it looks like a stag's attire or the leg of a bird. However, Keller was in Paris and his client may have been or French or International. Unfortunately, I only have a book of English crests. Kind regards.
