Hi Harry,
It is likely that the date of assay can be narrowed down to somewhere between the 31st May and the 5th July 1836.
The dateletter change for 1836 occurred, as usual, on the 30th May. Jonathan Hayne's business likely passed to Samuel Hayne and Dudley Cater, as Hayne & Co. probably on the 5th July when Hayne and Cater entered their joint mark with the London Assay Office.
