Italian Tea Set

Post by Smokanabeach »

Hi All,

here find a tea set that I buy recently. If I can identify the silversmith (1 AL => A. CESA S. C.,Via Trotti, 10 ALESSANDRIA, from 25/03/1935 to 31/12/1971) and recognize the "800", what about the third mark? I guess it can be a "logo" engraved by the silversmith... But why this mark includes a "1", as for a 1st title in sterling silver????

Thank you for your help!

Best regards,

Hello Smoka
among the things of my father I found this tea set which has about the same age as yours.

Even this is done in Alessandria, AL 20, RICCI & C, and in this too, in addition to the official marks there are some others .
I think they are used to mark parts of a single object or to identify a set. In any case they have no reference to the title (purity)

Thanks for your answer Amena. I agree with you about numbers we could find on tea sets(was the same with german, english, french,etc..tea sets i bought by the past). But i'm still sceptical about the mark on the left side of my pictures: guess it could be a makers' mark and you're right the '1' is just a coincidence...

Smoka
