c.1805 American Coin SIlver Teaspoon, Diamond "Maker's

Post by SilverSurfer »

This question is in regards to a c.1805 American coin silver teaspoon, coffin end Old English Pattern, lightly constructed at 13.4cm length, 12 grams mass, with typical incised oval "drop". The engraved script owner's monogram is too worn to decipher, but appears in style to be contemporary to the pattern. Here is a pic of what I imagine is the maker's mark, a diamond shaped cartouche with sloping sides and a flat diamond shaped bottom. Might someone be able to identify the maker?

I suppose this is similar to my question regarding another spoon with only a simple geometric maker's mark,

Hopefully I may be luckier with this inquiry. If a definite maker cannot be identified, can someone indicate whether this type of geometric marking was typical of some region, or perhaps of some type of part-time silversmith? TIA!!!
