A Gianmaria Buccellati Spoon

Post by Pooka »

Hello,

I bought this spoon for the hallmarks really as it is in terrible condition. I researched the excellent articles on here re Italian silver but the maker 1 BO was not listed so I thought I'd post some pics both to get more info and also if it can complement the information already listed. I can understand some of the marks on the spoon but I am very interested in the first set of marks and what they signify, i.e. the M C divided by an upturned goblet?

Thankyou in advance to anyone who can help. Here are some links to pictures of the spoon on TinyPics.

Many thanks for the images, they are appreciated.

I'll try and get all the information together and add it to the Italian topic later today.

Since 1912, Argenteria Clementi is one of Italy's most famous silver manufacturer. It was also a supplier to the royal house. In the 80's it was purchased by the family Buccellati.

So the the spoon was possibly made by Clementi and then retailed by Bucellati? In any case who would be the silversmith assigned the number 1 in the "1 BO"? Interesting stuff. I may have a very royal but challenged spoon : ) .
