What country this hallmark??? THANKS

Post by mingas »

maybe someone knows what country this hallmark and what age is this item. I'm thinking that the last letter (fourth) is S.
Thank you very much

Hi Mingas,

Not a hallmark, just the letters EPNS (Electro Plated Nickel Silver).

Trev.

It seems to me that the first letter is B.

Hi Mingas,

I think you and Trev are both correct. Instead of the usual EPNS, your piece is marked BPNS. I have seen it a couple of times in the past, originally thinking the B was a badly struck E but now think it's intentional.

Best guess is that the B simply stands for British, meaning British Plated Nickel Silver.

Cheers,
Steve

I'll stick with the "E."
