Silver plated fork?

Post by kel »

Hello
I hope you are all having a great day.
I am querying the hallmarks on this fork. I have looked for the relevant hallmarks on your website and can't find any similar in the sections.
Thank you for looking at the fork and relevant marks.

Thank you.
I hope this will be big enough while still being an acceptable size for the forum.

Hi
I hope the last picture is large enough to see the marks. When i look at the photo on my phone, it is clear but not so large on my computer.
Apologies if it is not large or clear enough to see.
Thanks again.

The marks read BW&CoLd (Ld stands for Limited [Company]) with an A. The A is an indication of plating quality (one down from A1).

I cannot find this mark recorded anywhere but, assuming it is British (and you don't give your location so only you know if this is likely), I can throw out a couple of possibilities: Burrell, Wilson & Co of Sheffield and Broughton, Wall & Co of Birmingham. Neither of these are listed as limited companies so it's more than likely that we are actually looking at a completely different company.

Thankyou so much. Your information is much appreciated. I didn't consider they were letters, I was trying to find pictures. A few people at work thought they were Arabic. So you have given me great info which now makes sense.
I'm in Australia.
