Help Identifying Gold Cameo Ring markings ( pre 1962)

Hi,
My sister-in-law asked if I could help identify the markings on her gold cameo ring which she acquired around 1962 in London.

It seems like a "chalice" then an "5" then an "E"

I couldn't find an exact match of the ring or markings online anywhere even after using Google Image search.

Look at it the other way up and it says 9 CT; i.e. 9 carat gold. This is too generic to indicate anything other than the gold standard.
