Dear forum members
I found this spoon today in a thrift shop and I am curious what date / anniversary it could mark.
I read from the markings, the spoon is made in Sweden by Alton, bears the year mark I9 for 1959 and "F" as city mark. "S" for the silver standard.
I am puzzeled by the anniversary it marks. Something at quarter past six on 16. March 1964. Of course we expect this to be the birthday of a newborn child. But the length is 118 cm and the weight is 22.6 kg. This is impossible for a newborn child. Then the Name is YANGCHEN. Google refers to China and Tibet if you search for this Name.
Any idea what this spoon was meant to mark?
Kind regards
Jörg
Swedish Date / Anniversary Spoon
Re: Swedish Date / Anniversary Spoon
Hi,
Grandfathers clock birthday spoons, Sweden, 1959. This one was for the newborn baby and even longer (15 cm) and 28 grams.
Yours was given to a seven year old child. The name looks Chinese: there was Yang Chen who played football in Bundesliga and about 30 000 Chinese in Sweden.
