CRAB MARK??? HELP - HELP - HELP!
CRAB MARK??? HELP - HELP - HELP!
Hello All:
I received this necklace from my grandfather's girlfriend who got it from her great aunt (who lived in Cape Cod).
The clasp has a hallmark of what appears to be a crab with the number 35 inside of it.
Can anyone tell me anything about this mark? How old it is? Where it is from?
I have been pulling my hair out trying to solve this mystery. I truly hope someone out there can shed some light!
Best,
Kristina Hughes

Mexican necklace
Your necklace is Mexican. We can tell because of the Mexican government eagle assay mark with #35 that is on the clasp. The Mexican govt. began issuing these eagle marks to guranatee sterling content in about 1948. The eagle hallmark was discontinued in or around 1978. We did a little research to see if we could identify the maker by eagle number but had no luck. There were thousands of silver designers during those years.
