My family has been in possession of a silver goblet for over 20 years, and have been trying to identify the silver maker. There is a mark on it P*R but cannot find any reference to it. There is information on the base which identifies Lieutenant Colonel Robert Donkin, America, 1776. From my research he served with the British Army in the War of Independence and was in New York at this time and believe he purchased the goblet there. He was an infamous character based on his publication which included germ warfare. His son who is also marked on the mug was Sir Rufane Shaw Donkin who had a stellar war record. I am really keen to find some information on this mug and would appreciate any information or leads which would assist me.
