This very small (and difficult to photograph) Christening spoon is Dutch but was imported by Isaac Manheim in 1900. It has the Dutch dual sword mark on the bowel together with the makers mark on the back of the bowel.
The maker has been narrowed down to Herbert Hooijkaas (1875-1909) or Hendrik Preijer (1896-1909). I discounted Philip Hovingh (1832-1851) unless the piece was kept in Holland for over 50 years before export but I am sure a forum member will let me know for for certain.
For such a small item there are a total of 11 marks – one of the reasons I purchased it.
My interest in this spoon has centered on Isaac (Soloman) Manheim. A very elusive man with only 1 mention on the forum. I have added a contributor note with further discussion about Isaac Soloman Manheim.
