They are silver, but I cannot identify the marks. The thumbnail below with the marks can be clicked on for a closer look.
The major id mark is unfortunately worn beyond readability. All that is really visible now is the maker's mark "I F" or "J F" plus the original owner's initials.
The initials are in the style of late 18th or earlier 19th century. The maker's mark cartouche shape looks late 19th or earlier 20th century German but also resembles some earlier American maker's marks I've seen.
Anyone any ideas? I can't spot this in any of my guides.
