I have some silver sugar tongs that I want to research but I am struggling to identify the silver markings. There is a WRS Mark which I believe is William Robert Smily (not the other WRS registered by William Rawlings Sobey). I am a novice with this, but if it's William Robert Smily the WRS Mark was registered in 1842 and used up until 1883. Can anyone please advise in helping me to decipher the date marks as I am struggling to find something matching.
I've attached some pictures and would really appreciate any help that can be give.
Best wishes,
Mark

An extra picture with some lettering on the item which may also help - I don't know what this is?

Re: Help in dating a silver mark?
Hi Mark,
The maker is definitely Smily. The hallmarks are clogged with old polish residue, you can remove this with a wooden toothpick or similar. From what I can see, it looks like it could be the letter H for London 1843.

Hi Martin,
Thanks for the quick response and advice. I managed to clean the markings and attach another clearer photo? Would appreciate a final confirmation.
