Hi Buckm,
I agree with the IK identification and would most probably attribute it to John King. If you do a google search on "london silver tankard John King" you will find a tankard identical to yours...including the year which is also attributed to John King. I first thought it was your tankard, however it has an additional owners initials and crest on the base near the hallmarks.

Here is the crest on the front of the tankard, I did not know the group here also identified crests. I believe this is dated 1778. Thank you for your expertise.
