dutch silver mustard pot and salt containers VS mark

Hi members
I have a couple or ornate silver pieces ,that are marked VS and a passant lion mark as well as the letter G and a female head.Are these the marks
for Jac. Vos Rotterdam 1869-1919. before he merged with Van Kempen in 1919?

I think that it was made in Hoorn.(Netherlands)
But we wait until all marks are placed, as already stated by Trev.
The marks must all connect seamlessly to give a correct answer

Hi Quido,
VS above two crosses, one of the 8 different maker's marks used by: Jac. van Straten, registered in the city of Hoorn 1901- 1938. This particular maker's mark was registered/used 1901-1918.

Hi Peter
thank you for your reply. I think you may be correct ,as the date letter G is for the year 1916.on my pieces .The marks are very hard to photograph i will try and get someone to do better images.Are there any Jac Van Staten images of his marks on line?

If you Google; Jac. van Straten zilver you will find some silver items made by van Straten, including his maker's mark; pepper-mill, miniature (toy)silver.

Your date letter G is for 1916, and the Minerva head could show the regional assay office letter P for Alkmaar.

Thanks Peter for all the info. I have not been able to find much info on Jac Van Straten,it looks like he was a minor maker and not in such a big way as Van Kempen ,Jac Vos,etc. Don't know if this is good or bad? in theory there is probably less of his products around today.

Van Kempen made price winning object but also "run-of-the-mill" items.

Your mustard pot and open salts made by Jac. van Straten look great to me, good quality a rare find.

I had already read the Van Kempen article before, very interesting.I thought my silver was made by Jac Vos when i saw the V.S logo in oval in that same article. Also because it mentions ,LITTLE HEADS IN MEDALLIONS ,I felt this was a clue that it may have been made by Vos before he joined Van Kemper in 1919. But as you mentioned my pieces are dated 1916.So Van Straten must have used similar idears (small heads in medallions) may be copying Van Kempen ideas.
