Hello All,

I recently aquired this vase and have had trouble identifying the mark.

The item does appear to be solid silver, however, this is the sole mark on the entire item ... and I've just been completely stumped by it.

The picture is taken stright on, so I assume that the mark is the correct way up (although I've looked at it from all angles, and it still didn't help me!).

I would be incredibly grateful, if anyone could help to point me in the right direction, so I can learn a bit more about the history of the item.

Many thanks in advance for any help offered.

Syd.

Hi Trev,

Thank you for the welcome and for the advice - I've managed to embed the photos onto the thread, so hopefully the mystery will be solved soon!

Thanks again,

Hello again,

After a bit of further searching through the ASCAS site, I came across a similar mark found on Russian silver.

It seems the mark may be a stamp that was used on smaller items from garniture sets.

I have to admit that it doesn't look much like the hand-drawn examples, but does bear a bit of resemblance to the mark that was actually struck on this item Image.

I'm not sure if this is mystery solved - but I think it may be as close as I'm going to get!
