Need Info Regarding Russian Silver Marks

Hi all...

I recently purchased a pair of these antique Russian silver candlesticks. They measure 13-1/4" tall and have the following markings. Anything you could tell me about the maker would be appreciated!!!

Definatelly your candlesticks are in 84 zolotnik silver (87.5%) and were assayed in 1893. It seems that the assayer 'OC' is unknown.

Initially I thought that the town mark was for Saint-Petersburg, but I found a 'OSTROCHOxxKI' silversmith in Warsaw. You should check your town mark carefully with the above web site.

Hi,
It is the Warsaw city mark of the imperial eagle and the cyrillic initials OC are for assayer Josef Sosnokowski (sp?). I'm sure someone can give further info on the maker.

Hello, Sosnowski was active ca. 1862-68. The warden "O.C" (Latin letters, incompletely struck here) is unidentified, he was active 1870-1896. Lileyko does not mention a maker "Ostroch???" in her publications on silver from Warszawa, neither does she list a workshop with the oval symbol (a cock's head ?). No pieces with these marks are in the silver collections of Warszawa or Plock, so the pieces are probably quite rare. Best wishes, Bahner
