Russian sugar box - genuin?

Post by sebastian4743 »

Here is a very interesting item in form of a bag. Do you think it is genuine from the period?

Hi,
Nice Trompe-l'œil box but marks are total fake, not even a dangerous fake.
Possibly genuine item made elsewhere and faked Russian marks added in an attempt to make it more desirable and lucrative.
The best way to tell is to examine the lock;it is made of iron and inserted from inside behind a silver plate that slides over the lock.

Thank you for your reply. It is a nice object and the fake marks are very disappointing.

Not sure if made in Europe;there are flaws in silversmithing and imperfections.
Nice item,though;but not Russian.

Thank you Madej. Do you know when it was made? Is it a contemporary piece?
