Hello,
I would appreciate it if anyone can help in identifying the crest on this cup. The cup has the makers mark of John Jackson and was assayed in London in 1697.
Thanks and regards,
Trevor
Crest on William and Mary two handled cup
Re: Crest on William and Mary two handled cup
Nice piece!
Looks like this cup was sold at auction earlier this year alongside the two William and Mary Tazze you posted about subsequently (also very nice).
In case you hadn't come across it, the auction's catalogue note for this lot says:
"The arms on the cup are those of Coleman of Langley, Co. Wilts or Colman, Suffolk or Essex."
Hopefully this helps to narrow it down.

Re: Crest on William and Mary two handled cup
Hello,
Thanks for your response and yes, I was aware of this attribution but my searches on both of the Coleman/Colman families has so far been fruitless. The Coleman/Colman arms are well recorded (just need to find the direct family) but those of the wife to sinister are proving more of a challenge which is why I posted the item.......the search continues. Once (and if) I find any more detail I will post it.
Regards,
Trevor
