Please ID this Locket Hallmarks?
Please ID this Locket Hallmarks?
I notice it doesnt have the anchor! I have been collecting antique lockets... this is the first coming without an anchor. Does it mean anything?
Can anyone make out the letter for the year for me. I cant tell if its a b or h
And the maker... I looked in the makers list and didnt see anything.
Thank you!

Hi and welcome to the Forum.
I have deleted the link in your post above as it is against our Posting Requirements . Please read them with particular reference to linking to auction sites and use of images from them.
The following should help you to post your images:
How to Add Images
https://postimages.org is recommended (click 'Share', then copy and paste the 'Hotlink for forums' code to embed your images). Do not use Photobucket or Dropbox.
Please embed your images rather than posting links and remember to use the 'Preview' button before submitting your post. If your images don't show up there we won't be able to see them either.
For a quick summary see:

Hi.
The images of the locket and marks embedded.Btw.links to commercial sites are not allowed here.
The closest I can tell is year 1882 for Birmingham, but the first letter in maker's initials is difficult to decipher.
Not sure for Birmingham.Lacking town mark and duty mark is possibly because of small item, but I am not familiar with those exceptions.
Regards

thank you very much for posting them!
I will take a closer look once it arrives... but I'm quite curious about the missing anchor.... I really bought this for the chain mostly. I have a small collection of antique lockets and liked this chain.

I suspect that you will find the rest of the hallmark under the inner section. Please feel free then to post your own pictures of it.
Re: Please ID this Locket Hallmarks?
That actually is the inner section of the locket... is that what you mean?
I have asked for pics of the back as I realize there were no pics in the auction. I think perhaps there might be more there also.
This is in the inside front piece.

Re: Please ID this Locket Hallmarks?
Probably on the back then. As the locket is originally 2 pieces of silver both parts need to be hallmarked - not necessarily a full hallmark on each part.
