Hi All
Newbie here so please be gentle!

Glad that there's this great website with lots of knowledge soaked into one place!
Having trawled back and forth through the identifying marks pages and getting more and more confused and slightly frustrated with myself (most probably!), I have little alternative but to turn to my much not experienced peers for help in solving the mystery behind these hallmarks.
I'm finding them conflicting due to the fact that I just cannot fit the life in me find a maker from Birmingham with the initials SJ in a lozenge. Nor can I clarify the year mark succinctly, as it appears to contradict the dating of the piece on its face semi-centennial commemorate.
Here's the two pictures. Hope that you are able to help out
Kind regards
Stu

Hi and welcome to the forum.
The date letter Z in your Birmingham hallmark is for 1999. Unfortunately I cannot identify SJ as the assay offices do not publish information of this sort. We have to glean small details as we go along and add knowledge piece by piece.
