Snuff Box No 3 - Photo Showing Box Opened
Snuff Box No 3
The Snuff Box No 3 I have, actually has no markings, however it does look rather like Snuff Box No 2 ( as regards to its high relief on the front, and hinge ), however it does have some markings, which are not Date, Maker, City, etc.
These markings ( which are inscribed ) as you will see in the photos to follow, say the following ( on the back of the Snuff Box ), " J W G " and below that at the bottom, " Anno 1750"
Can anyone give any further information of what they make think I,e, Date, Country,Etc.

It is a Swedish import mark, but where from is a good question.

Hi,
The pillbox is mid 18th century, not only because of Anno 1750 engraving, but also based on date letter cursive i, which is another mystery, by the way.
The closest date around 1750 (engraved) is 1749 (letter i used in Göteborg, Halmstad, Kristinehamn, Varberg).
Three crowns are in an oval, but when was import mark introduced ? Some resources claim 1812.If so, what is 3 crowns mark in this case ?
Town mark in a rectangle is really impossible to decipher; there is a comprehensive list and images of Svenska Silverstämplar, but the shown mark cannot be deciphered; what is it ?
Regards

The Swedish oval import mark was introduced 1913 (not 1812) and abandoned 1988. It is a pure speculation to guess what the other marks are. They are too worn. The only fact regarding the other marks is that they are from a Swedish point foreign marks.
