Same spoons or not? What is a letter M?

I have a short question about trademarks that maybe someone can answer:

I have some spoons from Towle Silversmiths.

Some of the spoons have a letter "M" on the handle while other identical spoons don't have the "M".

Does anyone know what the "M" stands for?

Are the spoons with the "M" different than the spoons without the "M" ?

You have 2 different spoons, the one on the left is a regular teaspoon the one on the right is a small teaspoon. Note the slightly larger bowl and longer handle. Some patterns also had a pap spoon, slightly smaller bowl, slightly longer handle. The regular teaspoon teaspoon was the workhorse of a flatware service. In a silver chest the difference would be easier to distinguish. In my time at Towles no one could say why it was an M.Best explanation I heard was the proportions of the M pieces were proportioned to match those made by the Moulton family of silversmiths whose business would evolve into Towle Silversmiths.
