Cute little cups - microscopic marks

Post by LoveToPolish »

Hi there! This is my first post, and I hope I’m doing this correctly…I have two silver plate cups, forget where or when I obtained either of them, each about 1-3/4” tall. I’ve identified one mark (lion with VH initials) as French, by Apollo, with “3” mark. The other cup’s hallmark has stumped me. It looks like a rectangle with a star, an “E” to the upper right and an “A” on lower right of the star. Now I wonder if that’s a “P” to the upper left, maybe an “I” below? I can’t find anything online at all. The “2G” mark could be a hint as to country of origin? Are these Christening, cordial or egg cups? (This American first googled “shot glass” lol.) Any clue as to date of manufacture? Thank you in advance!

Hi,
2G is French mark indicating 2 grams of pure silver used for electroplating.
Maker`s mark is in a square.
