Redefining the Jewel - Ireland
Until 21st January 2023
Collective of bijoux inspired by the Emerald Isle
Ireland inspires the artist's jewellery
Here comes the eighth edition of Redefining the Jewel: 31 artist's jewels evoke the Irish imagination for the Stupor mundi cultural review organized by the Culture Department of the Municipality of Casalmaggiore.
Until 21 January 2023, the unpublished jewels will be exhibited, designed by Italian and foreign artists, and selected within the "Redefining Jewelery" contest, which (born in 2010 from an idea by the curator Sonia Patrizia Catena) in the years it has become a point of reference in the material experimentation of art jewellery. An annual competition that stimulates the design and creation of a contemporary jewel whose added value comes from the idea. This year, Redefining Jewelery is part of the events of the Stupor mundi cultural review, an event organized by the Culture Department of the Municipality of Casalmaggiore and, for this occasion, the reference theme was Ireland. The selected artists and artists have designed a jewel with the aim of enhancing this territory with its luxuriant and uncontaminated green meadows, the changing skies and the beauty of the cliffs overlooking the stormy seas that bathe the island. And again, ruined castles and mysterious places of Celtic mythology, between heroic poems and legendary figures. Starting from the suggestions of this island, the selected authors have proposed a jewel capable of evoking its beauty, following various lines of research and inspiration: from nature to colours, from myths to the meaning of the word "island", from architecture to uncontaminated landscapes . Also for this edition the winners decreed by the jury will receive special prizes from the cultural partners of Ridefinire il Gioiello. The winners will have the opportunity to exhibit in Milan at Marco Rossini's Galleria Rossini and at Circuiti Dinamici for the wunderkammera project. A recommended artist will be able to obtain a period of artistic residency at the Artists' Station in Gambettola thanks to the Bosco Urban Art Project festival, while the Bijou Museum will decree a winner for a temporary exhibition point within the museum spaces. The media partners A glittering woman, Boop.it and My Where will reward their artist with an article or a dedicated interview. Giulia Vigo Photographer for the Auto Shoot has chosen the jewel of Redefining Jewelery welcomes an artist from the world of contemporary art in each edition. This year the artist invited to tell the theme of the 8th edition is Eleonora Monguzzi who, through her visual grammar, has outlined an exhibition itinerary called "The places of silence" characterized by sculptures, paintings and watercolors that tell of Nordic landscapes and Irish sounds.
